June 2, 2008 – Amp Energy’s Amp Your Game National Gaming Tour is pleased to announce a nationwide gaming tour across Canada. MLG Canada is an official partner to the tour. The tour is set to roll across Canada this summer – stopping at nine major cities from Halifax to Vancouver and looking for Canada’s best gamer to be the fourth member of the Amp Energy Pro Team along the way.

At 3,500 square feet, Amp Your Game is Canada’s biggest gaming tour featuring 80 gaming stations and a variety of activities for both casual and serious gamers.

MLG Canada will be exclusively featuring celebrities throughout the tour as well as Play-a-pro challenges with premium prizing at each stop.

The MLG Canada community now has an opportunity to go pro by signing up for the Amp Your Game’s Search for the Pro event. Here’s your chance to try out for the fourth spot on the Amp Energy Pro Team. In each city, there will be four days of auditions in a rigorous double elimination bracket style tournament. If you make it to the fourth day on Sunday in each location, players will have an opportunity to win prize money for the top four spots. The top four players in each location will then be put in a pool nationally against the top four players from each location. If you are selected for the fourth spot of the Amp Energy Pro Team, you will be signed to a full pro gamer contract exclusively with Amp Energy and Toshiba Canada.

Amp Your Game Tour Schedule
The Amp Your Game National Gaming Tour will stop in nine cities this summer. The event will run for four days, from Thursday to Sunday, in each city between 12 noon and midnight (6 p.m. on Sundays).

Amp Your Game - Search for the Pro

How it Works

The Amp Energy Pro Team – Nelson Triana (gamer tag: G-SpOt), Leo Vitelli (gamer tag: Alpha XFactor) and Bo Kovacevic (gamer tag: The Bo) – is looking for its fourth member. The pros need a gamer with the skills to play at a professional level across North America and the world.

Here’s how the Amp Your Game Search for the Pro works:

1. Canadian gamers who want to get paid to play (and think they have what it takes) register at AmpEnergy.ca to audition in-person during the tour or online through XboxLive.

2. 192 gamers will be chosen to compete in Phase 1 of Search for the Pro in each city. Phase 1 will be a Free-For-All elimination play held on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

3. Successful gamers will move into Phase 2 of Search for the Pro which will work on a team bracket system, narrowing the field to four finalists in each city:

Phase 2 (4v4) – Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Phase 3 (4v4) – Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Phase 4 (4v4) – Saturday from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Phase 5 (4v4 with pros) – Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Phase 6 (4v4 with pros) – Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Four finalists will be chosen in each city, announced on Sunday between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

5. Sixty online gamers will be chosen for a series of three XBoxLive tournaments, vying for another four finalist positions.

6. The Amp Energy Pro Team will choose four to six grand finalists from the field of 40 chosen at in-person and XBoxLive auditions. The successful grand finalists will be announced at MLG Toronto, August 22nd-24th.

7. Registration for in-person auditions closes on the Sunday prior to each city’s event (ex. Halifax registration closes on Sunday, June 8 before tour arrives on Thursday, June 12). The last call for XBoxLive online auditions is July 20.
