Edmonton Day Four

Alas, it was last day of the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour’s “Search for the Pro” contest and the final showdown was about to begin.  It was all quiet within the tent walls as the Pro Team and final six players of the competition stepped inside to start their day off bright and early.  With no one else in the tent, the Pro Team and contestants immediately sat down and took advantage of the extra practice time.   After enduring the long process of the Free-For-All, beating out first round hopefuls as well being chosen by the Pro Team based on their skill, teamwork and overall stats, every player was ready to get the show on the road and see who would come out on top.

At noon, the doors to the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour finally opened for the last time in Edmonton.  The Pro Team and final six were warmed up and ready to play some non-stop Halo action for the rest of the day.  First to take the hot seat to be tested on how well they could mesh with the Pro Team was Goose16. On the other side, sat Suyneej, SmokinAces2, dirty money, GlxyDS and as coach, WTF Shifty.  Throughout the day, every player switched roles.  Whether it was as the team’s fourth, a rival to the Pro Team or as a coach, each player was able to equally show off their skill, teamwork and communication.  With five long hours of playing through game after game like MLG CTF Narrows, KOTH Pit and Guardian Oddball, the day had finally come to an end.

Six rounds had been completed and it was time for the Pro Team to leave the room and discuss their thoughts and opinions on who stood out, who played well, and who deserved the top spots for the “Search for the Pro” contest for Edmonton.  After much discussion and deliberation of the overall stats for each player and who meshed well with the team, the final four of Edmonton had been chosen.  The finalists are:

Edmonton Day Three

With the sun shining bright and the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour ready for its third day in Edmonton, nothing could go wrong.  Many more gamers from all ages came inside of the tent and joined in the fun, playing the countless games that the tour had to offer.  Casual gamers from all around were eager and excited to get their taste of the ultimate gaming experience in their own backyard at the AMP Your Game Tour

Bright and early in the corner of the tent, the 16 players of the “Search for the Pro” contest from Thursday and Friday’s Free-For-All sat in front of the TVs, practicing and warming up their fingers and minds for an extremely long day ahead of them.  The Pro Team stood in their positions behind the players, ready to evaluate every competitor on their teamwork and overall Halo 3 skill.   With players switching spots, and balancing out teams, every player had their fair chance to prove what they were all about.

Friendly Halo 3 matches.

After putting the 16 players to the test in seeing how well they would work as a team in objective games, The Bo, G-SpOt and Alpha XFactor left the Halo 3 stations and players to choose the final six of Edmonton.  After reviewing recorded stats for each player as well as discussing everyone’s opinions and thoughts about the day, the six competitors had finally been chosen and proved that they conquered the gaming arena in beating the rest of the players from the FFA and 4v4 play.

Edmonton Day Two

Friday FFA action.
Brought to everyone by Ford MLG Canada, special guest Fernando Pisani of the Edmonton Oilers paid a visit to the AMP Your Game Tour to test out his gaming skills in a little NHL 08.  After playing James Sheppard, Nick Foligno and Nick Antropov, Bo Kovocevic challenged Pisani to a 1v1 in NHL 08 on the Xbox 360.  After an intense battle, Bo made sure he was going to redeem himself from losses against Sheppard and Foligno.  For the first time on the tour, Bo and Pisani were tied and came to the agreement that they would leave it as a tie.  All in all, it was a good friendly competition between Bo and Pisani.

We’re halfway through the sixth stop of the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour, but the competition has only just begun!  16 players will team up in the next round, in hopes that their skills and ability to adapt to working with strangers will pay off.  The final six players of Edmonton are that much closer in being determined.

Edmonton Day One

Winnipeg, the fifth stop of the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour, has ended. With that ending came the selection of another four talented and determined participants in the “Search for the Pro” contest to move on. Now 20 competitors from across Canada have been chosen, yet another 16 await their turn to shine in the spotlight and complete the final 36 of the competition.  The tour has passed the halfway mark, but a long road is still ahead and four cities are still awaiting the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour to land in their backyard.

Another long journey it was, 14 hours straight of driving, but the AMP crew and the Pro Team finally arrived at their next destination: Edmonton, Alberta.  With two days to spare until Day 1 of the Edmonton event, everyone made their way to the biggest attraction in the city, the West Edmonton Mall.  A water-park, a bungee jumping station, go-karts, and stores upon stores to shop in, the AMP crew and Pro Team knew where their days off would be spent.  However, Wednesday quickly rolled around, so once again it was back to work setting up the tent.  The weather was not what anyone expected.  Hail and rain crashed down onto the tent and because harsh weather conditions, the tent was damaged and was forced to reduce its size from 3500sq ft.

But, that did not stop the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour from running another great event.  Located in front of the West Edmonton Mall, the tent still emerged into the daylight and opened its flaps to the public.  The first day of Edmonton had begun!  Along with the live DJ’s pumping raucous music through the air, rock band music, the beating of the drums and melodic voices sounded the room.  The Halo 3 stations filled up quickly where friendly matches and warm-ups for the Free-For-All competition of the “Search for the Pro” contest took place all day.

Also, the third female competitor in the “Search for the Pro” contest, LDN KW33N, was ready to show the guys what she was made of.  After 15-minute rounds of  FFAs on Guardian, the top four from the winners bracket emerged and guaranteed their spot in the next part of the contest.   Dominating winners bracket were QGO (66 kills – K/D Ratio: +25), WTF Shifty (48 kills – K/D Ratio: +7), Suyneej (42 kills – K/D Ratio: 0) and Wowserz (41 kills – K/D Ratio: +4) and along with these finalists were the four winners of the losers bracket to complete the eight that will move on to Saturday.
