Vancouver Day Four

After fighting through the FFA and adapting to teaming with strangers, the six finalists were pumped to see how they well they could place and finish off the “Search for the Pro” contest.   Early in the morning, the Pro Team and finalists took their seats and began their BR warm up and FFA practice for the long day ahead of them.   At noon, the final round of the audition process began and the doors opened to the public for the last time in Vancouver.

Bodies upon bodies packed the inside of the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour tent and all were very eager to get as much gaming time as they could before the event came to a close for Vancouver.  With powerful voices of gamers calling out map placements and loud sounds from the gaming stations booming through the air, both casual and serious gamers were certainly enjoying the ultimate gaming experience at the AMP Tour.

First to take the spot as the Pro Team’s fourth was King of STYX.  With King of STYX bravely taking the hot seat first, other players M8 Snowpro, The Dougler9, XTTX Paws, ManiFesT and Xenex117 as coach, sat down in their positions ready to take on the Pro Team.  For the next six rounds, the final six were tested to see how well they could perform in three specific objective games:  Capture the Flag on Narrows, King of the Hill on The Pit and Oddball on Guardian.  Throughout the day, all of the competitors’ stats were recorded; moreover, each finalist were equally marked on communication and how well they could work as a team with the Pro, giving every individual an equal chance in obtaining the top ranks.

After six hours of non-stop Halo 3 action with the final six of Vancouver, it was time for G-SpOt, The Bo and Alpha XFactor to discuss and deliberate who the final four will be.  The Pro team made their way to the V.I.P lounge to review statistics of the day as well as confer about which players meshed with the team and were consistent throughout the day.  So, after conversing for nearly a half an hour, the final four of Vancouver had been chosen!

Alas, only one more stop remains for the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour where  four more Halo 3 gamers for “Search for the Pro” auditions await in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to make their names known.  Finally, with the final stop on the horizon, the announcement of the fourth and final member of the Pro Team is drawing near.  Time to see which four gamers in Saskatoon will complete the thirty-six finalists of the “Search for the Pro” contest!

Vancouver Day Three

Two days remain for the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour in Vancouver, BC.  So far, AMP Vancouver has been very successful with the large quantity and quality of gamers visiting the tent and trying out the variety of gaming stations available.  Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day and many cars were seen parked in front of the mall.  With many onlookers taking an interest as well as admiring the AMP tent, more and more people gathered inside with excitement and joy.  All day, the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour tent was filled to the maximum of gamers galore.

While people from all ages enjoyed their gaming experience at the AMP Tour, two Halo 3 gaming stations were cleared and set up for the day ahead.   It was round two of the “Search for the Pro” competition and twenty-four FFA finalists from the past two days stood off to the side, ready to play.  Although all of the competitors were able to show that they had the skill enough to survive through the FFA rounds, teamwork is a different beast altogether.  All players were randomized and put into teams of four where they would face off against one another, learning to adapt in playing with strangers as well as use their skill and smarts to win as a team.

Hours had passed by as the Pro Team observed from the sidelines.  After five rounds had been completed and the Pro Team had been able to watch every player individually, it was time to narrow twenty-four players to six.  It was a tough decision because of the amount of competitors in Saturday’s 4v4, but even so, the final six were chosen of Vancouver.

Even though the twenty-four competitors were finished the competition, the AMP Your Game
tent was still as lively as ever.

After defeating the others in the Free-For-All competition and catching the attention of the Pro Team, the six finalists certainly showed that they had skill and the teamwork ability necessary to carry them to the next round.

Vancouver Day Two

The second installment of the “Search for the Pro” contest was ready to begin its second final FFA competition for last minute hopefuls.  Noon struck and the doors to the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour opened for the second day in Vancouver.   With curious mall visitors passing by on Friday afternoon, the tent was bound to fill up fast with casual and serious gamers.  In fact, in the matter of an hour, the tent had become crowded with many fresh-lit faces ready to get gaming.

Along with Toronto and Calgary, day two of the “Search for the Pro” contest in Vancouver had one of the biggest turnouts.  It was a long, exhausting day for all.  The competition was tough and with more players than usual competing for a guaranteed spot in the next round, everyone was determined and ready to fight to the finish, or perhaps more eloquently, to finish the fight.  After many hours of practicing in the Halo 3 open play, it was time to get the show on the road and see who would dominate individually with their BR skills and clever tactics.

Game on!
The first round of the final FFA was underway and this time, sixteen players would be able to continue onto the next round and complete the twenty-four competitors that will be competing in the 4v4 portion of the “Search for the Pro” contest.  After the long process of eliminating players throughout the day, sixteen gamers successfully made it through the next round.  King of STYX managed to finish his winner’s bracket final round with 51 kills and going a whopping +21.

Vancouver has showed a lot of talent and skilled Halo players out there.  Yet, in the second round of the “Search for the Pro” contest, all of the competitors must step it up and prove that they should move onto the final round.  Twenty-four players will be narrowed down to six on Saturday, which will show who really means business in this competition.

Vancouver Day One

Only two more stops remain on the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour and with the “Search for the Pro” contest quickly finishing its auditions, the fourth and final member of the “AMP Pro Team” will soon be chosen.  It was time to make way to the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia.  A long drive it was, yet it was also one of the most breathtaking road trips so far.   Making a short stop at Lake Louise in Alberta, the AMP crew and team were able to take a break and admire nature’s beauty.  G-SpOt and The Bo enjoyed their canoe ride on the lake; meanwhile the others took pictures, sat or walked around to take in the scenery.  But, it was back on the road for everyone and time flew as the Rocky Mountains came into view.

After traveling from Calgary and enjoying a couple of days venturing Vancouver, it was back to setting up the great white tent for an eighth time.  Located at the Richmond Mall, the AMP Your Game National Gaming Tour was prepared for their expected amount of gamers to flood in throughout the week.  On Thursday afternoon, the event doors opened.  The gamers of Vancouver as well as around the surrounding area made their way into the gaming arena to see what the tour had to offer.

Players that had signed up for the “Search for the Pro” competition immediately took advantage of the open play Halo 3 time to practice and warm up for their big competition ahead.  After many hours of warming up their BR in FFA and random 4v4s, the contest was ready to begin.  The stations were closed off and the gametypes/profiles were set.  Called out one by one, the players for Thursday’s FFA took their seats and began to battle it out for top eight of the day.

Many competitors dominated the Free-For-All arena such as M8 Snowpro racking up 54 kills in the final round and managing a kill death ratio of +13.  Trailing close behind was The Dougler9, who was able to finish his final round with 50 kills and obtaining a kill death ratio of +16.  So, with the FFA contest for Thursday finally finished its last round, the top eight reigned over the rest.
